Petite Place

Petite Place 2 Wind Farm with Energy Storage Batteries

Petite Place, Guadeloupe

Petite Place Wind Farm is the repowering of the wind farm installed in 1997 with low power turbines. The customer wanted to change its installation with more modern and powerful turbines in order to produce more.

This is the first wind plant with storage in France. The presence of a storage component allows the system to compensate for the fluctuant nature of wind power production hence delivering power that is aligned to the electricity consumption of the island. The storage capacity is about 460kWh, which represents about 10 minutes of production of the 9 wind turbines at their rated output.

Today the total wind power installed by VERGNET in Guadeloupe reaches 30 MW with 237 wind turbines(all capacities) of which 90 MP.
